Fit & Drunk: The Rise of Low Calorie Alcohol

In today’s world we are all obsessed with our stats.  How many steps we take, how many calories we eat, even our average heart rate … everything is tracked!  We are checking labels and holding the food industry more accountable. We are more conscious of what we are putting in our bodies.   With that being said, we are also not willing to give up our right to paaaaaaaaaarty!  Thus, we announce the rise of the low-calorie alcohol industry!  Who says you can’t be fit AND drunk?! Not me!

Low Calorie Alcohol

Vodka soda with lime used to be the low calorie drink of choice for people who were watching their caloric intake.  Now with the rise of hard seltzer, vodka soda is taking a backseat.  Most hard seltzer drinks have more alcohol percentage than light beers, but with half the calories, and half the bloat! Hard seltzer drinks have gotten so popular, there is actually a shortage of them in the United States! No joke, read it here.  It’s the great White Claw Famine of 2019! Hard seltzer is not just for the basic sorority girl, everyone has jumped on this band wagon … and I am here it!  The insane popularity of these low calorie drinks says “Yes, yes you can be fit & drunk!”

Muscles & Mimosas

Another rising trend is blending workouts and cocktails, also here for this!  With so many new fitness boutiques popping up, the competition is heating up. In return, many studios are looking to bring their clients together to form a community.  Forming a community helps with loyalty and encourages your clients to bring their friends.  What better way to bring people together than with alcohol?  If you belong to any boutique style fitness studio, I bet they have had at least one event in the last month that included alcohol during or after the workout. Cyclebar has a brunch ride every Sunday, where they serve mimosas after class. Studio Barre in Mission Hills even had an event at an actual nightclub downtown, Side Bar.  This is amazing and fully supports the idea that you can in fact be Fit & Drunk!

So don’t feel bad if you workout 3-5 days a week, but also like to drink.  A  world where you can be fit and enjoy an alcoholic beverage (or 3) is a world I am happy to live in.  The future called and it said “Be Fit & Be Drunk!”

So raise a glass to your tight ass!

Cheers to your popping rears!

Grab that white claw to cool you down after a hard workout!  We are Americans and we like to party … but we also care about our health!

Drink and workout responsibly my friends!
